Spoiler Notice: This is a detailed 20-part series covering the GTA V single-player campaign from the prologue to the three endings. This is a narrative commentary based on in-game events and is not an official novel or script. Simultaneous missions and choice-based events may vary in chronological order. Devin Weston visits Franklin Clinton at his Vinewood Hills home to reiterate his demand to kill Michael De Santa. Having already received orders from the FIB's Steve Haines to eliminate Trevor Philips, Franklin struggles between two extreme choices. He concludes that he cannot kill either of his mentors and heads to Lester Crest's house in El Burro Heights to ask for help.

After hearing the situation, Lester initially laments that eliminating both Michael and Trevor is the only solution. However, upon confirming Franklin's firm resolve, he devises a bold plan to lure both hostile factions into a trap. Lester leaks false information to both Steve Haines and Devin Weston, claiming that the gold bars stolen from the Union Depository are being melted down at a foundry in Cypress Flats.

Having lost standing after the Kortz Center shootout, and with Devin facing humiliation due to Merryweather's repeated failures, both were certain to target the gold to restore their honor and results. Lester immediately contacts Michael and Trevor, instructing them to gather at the foundry. Franklin, anticipating a large-scale battle, decides he needs additional support and heads to Forum Drive to pick up Lamar Davis.

Franklin explains the current crisis to Lamar while driving to the foundry. Upon arrival, Franklin positions Lamar as a lookout outside the building and enters alone. Inside, Michael and Trevor are locked in a tense standoff, pointing guns at each other as if ready to pull the trigger at any moment. Franklin steps between them, calming them down by revealing that a common enemy is closing in.

Soon, corrupt FIB agents attempting to recover the gold enter the foundry, followed by Merryweather mercenaries under Devin's orders, sparking a massive shootout. The three take cover inside the factory and begin their counterattack against the incoming waves of enemies. During the intense firefight, a desperate radio call comes in from Lamar, who has been spotted and cornered by enemies outside.

Franklin immediately rushes out of the building to clear the enemies surrounding Lamar and rescues him. Meanwhile, inside the building, an unexpected situation occurs when Trevor's radio response suddenly cuts off amidst the heavy gunfire. Putting past grievances aside, Michael fights through the enemy encirclement to reach Trevor's location and rescue him. Thanks to Michael's support, Trevor overcomes the crisis and regroups.

The three move between the interior and exterior of the factory, annihilating all FIB agents and Merryweather mercenaries attacking from the ground and air. After taking down the last enemy, Michael and Trevor gather again, only to resume their bickering and mutual distrust. However, Franklin intervenes once more to mediate, and the three finally agree to eliminate all the puppet masters who have been using and trying to destroy them.

Having survived the battle at the foundry, the trio contacts Lester Crest and asks him to track the locations of their four targets. The individuals they must eliminate are FIB agent Steve Haines, Merryweather major shareholder Devin Weston, Triad boss Wei Cheng, and the traitor Stretch, who is in league with the Ballas. Instead of handling their own personal vendettas, they divide the roles to cross-assassinate each other's targets.

Trevor Philips volunteers to handle Steve Haines, whom he has loathed since the moment they met. According to Lester's intelligence, Haines is filming his TV show, 'The Underbelly of Paradise,' on the Ferris wheel at Del Perro Pier. Trevor secures a vantage point overlooking the pier and precisely targets and kills Haines while he is sitting in a Ferris wheel car during filming.

As Haines falls, bleeding, the pier descends into chaos, and the police stationed at the scene immediately respond. Trevor evades the police pursuit, leaves the scene calmly, and contacts Lester to ask for the location of the next target, Devin Weston. Meanwhile, Michael De Santa takes on the mission to eliminate Stretch, who has continuously threatened Franklin and Lamar. Michael has no prior history with Stretch, making him easy to approach.

Lester tracks Stretch's phone signal and confirms he is hanging around the B.J. Smith Recreational Center. Michael travels to the location and finds Stretch standing near the basketball court with Ballas gang members. Michael approaches by surprise, kills Stretch, and suppresses the surrounding Ballas gang members who retaliate in anger before safely exiting the area.

Franklin Clinton targets Wei Cheng, the Triad boss who interfered with Trevor's drug business and kidnapped Michael. Lester captures a record of Wei Cheng's son, Tao Cheng, using a credit card at a beach club in Pacific Bluffs and relays this to Franklin. Franklin ambushes the Triad motorcade as they prepare to leave the club.

Franklin breaks through the defense of the escort vehicles and focuses his attack on the car carrying Wei Cheng, ensuring his elimination. While the fate of Tao Cheng may vary depending on the player's choice, the threat from the Triad boss who had been hunting them ends with the death of Wei Cheng. While carrying out their respective missions, Michael repeatedly urges his colleagues to stick to the plan and manages the operation.

When drawing up the hit list, Trevor argued that Dave Norton, who was involved in Brad Snider's death, should also be eliminated. However, Michael persuaded him to remove Dave from the list, arguing that Dave needs to stay alive to act as a shield against future pursuit from the FIB or other government agencies. With the three successfully handling their respective targets, only one goal remained: Devin Weston, the mastermind behind all the chaos.

After dealing with Steve Haines, Trevor Philips receives information from Lester Crest that Devin Weston is staying at his luxury mansion in Tongva Hills. Devin has hired numerous Merryweather mercenaries to establish tight security inside and outside the mansion. Trevor infiltrates the mansion stealthily through the garden alone.

Trevor systematically neutralizes the Merryweather guards patrolling the mansion and approaches the location where Devin is hiding. Finding Devin cowering in a basket near the pool, Trevor knocks him unconscious and forces him into the trunk of Devin's own car. Trevor drives the car with Devin inside toward the coast of Paleto Bay in northern Blaine County.

Throughout the drive, Devin regains consciousness in the trunk and begs for his life, attempting to bribe Trevor with money, his company, or anything else he might want. However, Trevor firmly dismisses Devin's offers, retorting that the only thing he wants is his death. Trevor drives along the dirt road and arrives at a steep coastal cliff near the Mount Chiliad State Wilderness.

Michael De Santa and Franklin Clinton have already arrived at the cliff's edge, the agreed-upon location, and are waiting for Trevor. The three gather behind the vehicle and open the trunk. Without taking Devin out, they look down at him trapped inside and have a final conversation. The three remind him of how he used them like tools, betrayed them, and what his arrogance has led to.

Even from inside the trunk, Devin continues to boast about his immense wealth and connections, threatening that there will be unbearable consequences if they kill him. However, to the three who have already eliminated the major figures who threatened them directly, his threats mean nothing. Michael, Franklin, and Trevor close the trunk and stand in a line behind the car.

The three join forces to push the car containing Devin over the edge of the cliff. The vehicle cuts through the air and plunges toward the rough, crashing waves dozens of meters below. Upon colliding with the sharp rocks at the base of the cliff, the car explodes with a roar and is engulfed in flames. Devin Weston is buried forever in the Pacific Ocean along with the capitalist power he so proudly boasted of.

After all revenge and threats are removed, the three stand at the edge of the cliff and look at each other. The past grievances and distrust that had long weighed down Michael and Trevor are finally resolved through this final joint operation. They confirm that they no longer have any reason to harm each other and solidify their friendship. After a brief farewell, the three scatter in their own directions and leave the scene.

With the death of Devin Weston, the massive heist spree and survival struggle of the three protagonists that shook Los Santos come to an end. The third way they chose was not a process of washing away past sins and being reborn as perfect saints. It was the cold result of survival, where they seized their own lives against the massive powers and criminal organizations that treated them as expendable commodities.

After eliminating the immediate major threats, the three return to their daily lives and seek new ways of living. Michael De Santa restores his relationship with Amanda, Tracey, and Jimmy, reclaiming his place as an ordinary head of the household. At the same time, he continues his career as a film producer with Solomon Richards, living a life of legitimate success, far removed from his past as a criminal.

Franklin Clinton sheds the shackles of being a slum gangster and carves out his own independent life in his Vinewood Hills mansion. He accumulates wealth using the opportunities provided by Lester Crest, but he maintains his friendship with his old friend Lamar Davis and does not completely forget his roots. Trevor Philips also returns to the desert of Sandy Shores, living in his own rough and free-spirited way.

Beyond the main narrative, the three protagonists experience optional events, becoming entangled with various side characters throughout Los Santos and Blaine County. Franklin performs tasks connected to street life, such as helping Tonya Wiggins with towing jobs or assisting the paparazzi photographer Beverly. These events show that even while standing at the pinnacle of the criminal world, Franklin remains in touch with the mundane underside of the city.

Additionally, they collect scattered spaceship parts for the eccentric Omega or witness the futile death of Dominic Beasley while enjoying dangerous parachute jumps with the extreme sports fanatic. The detective role of collecting hidden letter scraps across the city to uncover the 1970s murder of Vinewood actress Leonora Johnson is also one of the optional narratives they can experience.

These stories of strangers and freaks mean that the journey of the three protagonists was not limited to just being a heist spree chasing money. They left their own trajectories while directly facing the countless secrets and madness harbored by the massive, chaotic city that is 2013 Los Santos. Although their lives will not be smooth sailing from here on out, the tragic fate that forced them to point guns at each other has certainly come to an end.

Leaving behind the stormy times of big scores, betrayals, and the final counterattack, the sun sets peacefully over Los Santos once again. The three still have one foot in the criminal world, but they remain solid allies who can confirm each other's survival and contact one another when needed. With this, the main plot of the 20-part GTA V single-player campaign comes to a grand conclusion.
