Michael De Santa headed to the upper pavilion of the Kortz Center after receiving a call from Dave Norton. There, Michael recounted every dangerous mission he had performed for the FIB and demanded to be set free as promised. However, Dave expressed concern, stating that the situation would not be resolved so simply. At that moment, Steve Haines and Andreas Sanchez appeared, and the atmosphere on the scene froze instantly. Ignoring Dave's claim that he had the situation under control, Steve ordered Sanchez to arrest Dave and Michael immediately.

Michael demanded to know the reason for his arrest, quickly deducing that Steve intended to lock him away to prevent him from testifying about his corrupt activities in court. The scene instantly transformed into an armed standoff between Dave and Michael on one side, and Steve and Sanchez on the other. As guns were drawn and tension mounted, tactical units from both the IAA and the FIB suddenly swarmed the area, causing the situation to spiral out of control. When Steve furiously demanded to know who had called the tactical units, Sanchez declared that he had been working as a double agent and that these forces were on his side.

At that moment, a Merryweather Buzzard helicopter appeared in the sky, turning the Kortz Center into a stage for a massive firefight. In the chaotic standoff, an FIB tactical agent shot Steve in the leg—the very same leg Steve had shot himself in during the previous Humane Labs raid. Wounded, Steve immediately retaliated, shooting the traitor Sanchez in the head and killing him. Steve then fled the scene while wounded, leaving Michael and Dave in a desperate crisis, forced to escape the Kortz Center through a hail of gunfire.

Michael fought off enemies while moving along the building's exterior, but he was soon isolated when his path was blocked by a Merryweather Buzzard. Just as he was pinned down by the helicopter's machine gun fire, the sound of a sniper rifle echoed from afar, and the chopper was shot down. It was none other than Trevor Philips who had saved Michael. Trevor shouted that he was the only one allowed to kill Michael. When Michael asked if he had come to finish him off, Trevor dodged the question, claiming he was just waiting for the right opportunity. Thanks to Trevor's covering fire, Michael was able to resume his movement.

Dave instructed Michael to meet him at the reflecting pool in the courtyard, and Michael broke through the enemy lines with Trevor's sniper support. After reuniting with Dave at the pool, Michael ran desperately toward the parking lot. Dave left the scene first, telling Michael to contact him again after he had completely shaken off the Merryweather pursuit. Trevor also left after informing Michael to meet him behind the pawn shop in Morningwood. Only after destroying the final Merryweather helicopter that appeared as he was leaving the parking lot was Michael able to escape the Kortz Center safely.

Upon arriving in Morningwood, Michael tried to smoke to calm his nerves, but Trevor approached and snatched the cigarette pack away, throwing it aside. Trevor made an excuse about it being bad for his health, and Michael retorted by venting his stress about surviving a shootout between two corrupt government agencies and private mercenaries. A tense atmosphere, fueled by past betrayals, still lingered between the two. While making it clear that he had not fully forgiven Michael, Trevor insisted he would not kill him yet, citing the remaining plan for the Union Depository heist as his justification.

After the mission, Michael called Dave to remind him that his life had been saved once again. He demanded to know how they would handle the tangled mess involving Steve, the FIB, and the IAA. Dave replied that he could manage the situation by pinning most of the illegal events that occurred at the scene on the deceased Sanchez. However, Dave warned that the uncontrollable Trevor remained the biggest headache, and he made Michael aware that Steve would eventually want Trevor dead for the sake of his own security.

2. Lamar Down · Tanisha's Request and the Sawmill

Tanisha Jackson visited Franklin Clinton's home in Vinewood Hills. She brought urgent news that Lamar Davis had been kidnapped after falling into a trap set by Stretch. She explained that Stretch had colluded with the Ballas to lure Lamar to a sawmill in Paleto Forest. Although Franklin had saved Lamar multiple times, he was initially inclined to refuse, exhausted by Lamar's tendency to repeat reckless behavior. However, when Tanisha earnestly begged him to save Lamar for her sake, Franklin eventually had a change of heart and set out to launch a rescue operation.

While heading to Paleto Forest, Franklin called Lester Crest to explain the situation. Lester used a backdoor into the police database that he had secured during the preparations for the Paleto Bay heist to search for information. The results confirmed Franklin's suspicion that the Ballas were growing marijuana near Paleto Forest and that Lamar was being held there. Judging that it would be difficult to take on the entire Ballas organization alone, Franklin asked Lester to contact Michael and Trevor—with whom he had fallen out due to past events—and request that they meet at the sawmill.

Upon arriving at the sawmill, Franklin faced the hostile atmosphere between Michael and Trevor. Trevor was on edge, telling Michael that he would not be handed over to the federal government like Brad ever again. After Franklin intervened to calm the situation, the three scouted the interior of the sawmill with binoculars and discussed tactics to rescue Lamar. Michael decided to head to a nearby hill to provide covering fire with a sniper rifle, while Franklin and Trevor took on the roles of entering the sawmill from different directions on the ground to pressure the enemies.

The three advanced into the sawmill, killing Ballas members from their respective positions. Michael's precise sniper support combined with the firepower of Franklin and Trevor as they charged on the ground caused the Ballas' defensive line to collapse. After a fierce firefight, they found Lamar near a door leading into the sawmill. Although the Ballas members put up a strong resistance, the three managed to suppress the incoming enemies and successfully rescue Lamar. After the battle, Michael and Trevor left separately, and Franklin took Lamar into his car and headed for Los Santos.

On the way back to Forum Drive, Lamar explained that Stretch had recommended the location as a good place to buy marijuana, near where he had been storing the cars he stole for Devin Weston. Franklin warned him of Stretch's betrayal, pointing out that it was a perfectly orchestrated trap to kill Lamar in the first place. However, Lamar revealed his jealousy, feeling that Franklin had abandoned him while living a wealthy life, and even expressed an inferiority complex toward Michael and Trevor, insisting that Franklin should not help him in the future.

Arriving at Forum Drive, Lamar mocked Franklin, asking for pocket change. An enraged Franklin vented about how much risk he had taken to save Lamar, and that he himself had received nothing for the vehicle theft job for Devin. Franklin advised Lamar to face reality, coldly telling him that if he continued to live in a fantasy like this, only a lot of people would show up at his funeral, before turning away. While the recklessness of his friend and Franklin's new wealthy life did not automatically mean the end of their relationship, the gap in their perspectives could not be bridged.

As Franklin walked toward his car, corrupt FIB agents Steve Haines and Dave Norton appeared and blocked his path. They gave Franklin a new order: kill Trevor. The reason was that while Michael was rational and controllable, Trevor was too dangerous. Franklin refused, reminding them that Trevor had saved their careers and telling them to make Michael do it. However, the agents did not back down, claiming that Trevor would not keep Michael by his side. When Lamar approached and asked who he was talking to, Franklin brushed off the question and left.

Michael dressed in a tuxedo with Jimmy ahead of the premiere of 'Meltdown,' the film that contained his life and dreams. Arriving at the Oriental Theater in a limousine, Michael stepped onto the red carpet, hoping to enjoy his first legitimate achievement as a film producer. However, the situation changed abruptly when he encountered Devin Weston at the theater entrance. Devin sneered that Amanda and Tracey would not be attending the premiere, indirectly implying that he had sent Merryweather mercenaries to Michael's home in Rockford Hills. Realizing his family was in mortal danger, Michael was overcome with a dark premonition and immediately turned his car back toward home.

When Michael arrived at his Rockford Hills mansion, the interior and exterior were already occupied by Merryweather mercenaries. Amanda and Tracey were trapped somewhere inside the house, their lives threatened. Michael immediately drew his weapon and entered through the front door, killing the mercenaries roaming the living room and kitchen one by one. He moved up and down the stairs, searching each room and neutralizing the enemies threatening his family in the bedrooms and bathrooms with precise shots. The house instantly turned into a scene of fierce combat, and Michael broke through the enemy lines with the sole intention of saving his family.

Even after evacuating Amanda and Tracey to a safe place, the Merryweather offensive did not stop. While clearing the enemies continuing to pour into the house, Michael was surrounded by an overwhelming number of mercenaries and was on the verge of being subdued. At the critical moment when the enemy's guns were aimed at Michael, Jimmy appeared wearing the night-vision goggles he usually used at night. Jimmy approached unseen in the darkness and launched a surprise attack on the mercenaries threatening Michael, saving his father. Michael was relieved to confirm that his family was safe, but his anger toward Devin Weston reached its peak.

The film premiere itself was successfully concluded thanks to the efforts of Solomon Richards and Michael, but behind it lay an irreconcilable grudge with Devin. Devin had tried to cancel the film production for insurance money, and Michael had chased Devin's lawyer, Molly Schultz, who was fleeing with the film reels to protect his movie. In the process, a horrific accident occurred where Molly was sucked into a jet engine at the airport and died. Solomon said there was a digital backup so there was no problem with preserving the film, but this incident became the decisive turning point that led Devin to target Michael's family directly.

Having protected his family, Michael realized that his relationship with Devin Weston had completely spiraled into catastrophe. Michael's efforts to achieve his dream as a film producer had clashed with Devin's greed, and through the tragedy of Molly's death, it had transformed into a battle for survival and revenge. This moment, where the success of the premiere and the safety of his home were starkly divided, clearly showed that the world of crime and violence Michael belonged to could destroy his family's daily life at any time. Michael realized that Devin's capital and Merryweather's military power would continue to tighten around him.

The attack on his family signaled to Michael that there was no turning back. He felt painfully that there would be no true peace unless he completely eliminated the enemies born from his past and present. After keeping his family in a safe place, Michael began preparations to stand against the powerful figures trying to ruin him. As long as his partners Franklin and Trevor were by his side, they were destined to join forces once again for the final showdown that was soon to come.

The powerful figures of Los Santos tried to thoroughly use and discard the three protagonists for their own interests and survival. Steve Haines and Dave Norton, corrupt forces within the FIB, considered Trevor Philips a dangerous element that could no longer be controlled. When his own corrupt activities were on the verge of being exposed, Steve identified Trevor as the scapegoat to take the fall for everything and ordered Franklin to assassinate him. On the other hand, billionaire Devin Weston harbored a deep grudge against Michael for ruining his business and leading to the death of his lawyer, Molly. Devin also visited Franklin's home and threatened him to eliminate Michael.

As their respective interests became intertwined, the three protagonists were trapped in a desperate situation. Steve abused the power of government agencies to protect his position, and Devin pressured the protagonists by mobilizing massive capital and Merryweather mercenaries. On top of this, the Triad organization led by Wei Cheng and the Ballas gang colluded with Stretch to target the lives of Trevor and Franklin, pushing the tension in the city to its peak. All these powerful figures and criminal organizations were calculatingly using the protagonists like pawns to eliminate each other without dirtying their own hands.

Franklin suffered from extreme conflict as he received conflicting orders from Steve and Devin to kill Trevor and Michael, respectively. Steve pressured him by saying that if he didn't kill Trevor, Franklin's own safety could not be guaranteed, and Devin warned that if he didn't kill Michael, he would ruin Franklin with his power. This point shows that all external threats faced by the three protagonists had reached their peak, and this harsh final choice given to Franklin was specified to take place immediately after the upcoming Union Depository bank job.

Even in this desperate situation, Lester Crest gathered the three to plan the final grand task: the Union Depository heist, which had been their long-standing goal. Lester persuaded them that this massive gold bullion robbery would not only bring them immense wealth but was also the only opportunity to sever ties with all the powerful figures tightening the noose around them. The protagonists set aside the distrust stemming from their pasts and their current conflicts, resolving to restore their cooperative relationship one last time for the sake of survival and freedom.

To resolve the current state where the interests of agency agents, giant capitalists, and hostile criminal organizations were intertwined, overwhelming funds and a perfect plan were needed. The Union Depository heist would be more than just a robbery; it would be a major turning point that would shake the corrupt power structure of Los Santos and determine whether the protagonists could start a new life. With all preparations complete, the protagonists began to look for an opportunity to strike back at those who sought to make them scapegoats.

This part shows in detail the process by which the conditions for Franklin's final decision are formed. The threats from Steve and Devin pushed Franklin to the edge of a cliff, but at the same time, they reminded the three protagonists that they must carve out their own destinies. After the bank job is successfully completed, Franklin must choose whether to kill Trevor, kill Michael, or stand against all enemies with both of them in a fight to the death. That choice will put a period on the long struggle in Los Santos.
