GTA V Story Part 8 · Lester's Targets and the FIB Cash Transport

  1. The Hotel Assassination · A Contract Targeting Stock Prices

Franklin Clinton meets with Lester Crest on a bench opposite a cafe at Del Perro Pier. To avoid suspicion, Lester stares straight ahead, pretending to converse with a stranger. He mentions Michael De Santa's elimination of Lifeinvader CEO Jay Norris and proposes that this time, they should do something that fills their pockets while benefiting society.

The target identified by Lester is Brett Lowry, CEO of Bilkinton Research. He is a corrupt figure who bribed authorities to approve 'Priapol,' an erectile dysfunction drug with heart attack side effects. Lester has already purchased shares in the competitor, Betta Pharmaceuticals, calculating that once Brett Lowry is dead, Bilkinton's stock will plummet and Betta's will skyrocket.

Franklin accepts the instructions and heads to the Von Crastenburg Hotel in Rockford Hills. He infiltrates the hotel's multi-story parking garage and waits for the target to appear. Moments later, as Brett Lowry emerges from the hotel with his bodyguards and attempts to board his vehicle, Franklin swiftly snipes and kills him.

As the gunshot rings out, the bodyguards respond immediately, but Franklin escapes the garage amidst the chaos. He skillfully evades the pursuing security personnel and the police dragnet, successfully leaving the scene. Upon reaching a safe location, Franklin calls Lester to report that the mission has been completed successfully.

Lester expresses satisfaction with Franklin's performance, revealing that the investment returns were far more successful than anticipated. He states that he has purchased a luxury mansion at 3671 Whispymound Drive in Vinewood Hills for the purpose of tax evasion and asset management. Lester encourages Franklin to leave his aunt's house and start a new life there.

Franklin is stunned by the sudden generosity and expresses his gratitude. Lester adds that he has already sent people to move Franklin's belongings and his dog, Chop, to the new house. This mission is a mandatory gateway for the main story progression, and the remaining four assassination missions proposed by Lester can be timed according to Franklin's choice. 1. Masks, Boiler Suits, Trash Truck, Tow Truck · Preparing for Blitz Play

FIB agent Steve Haines gathers Michael, Franklin, and Trevor Philips at a warehouse in El Burro Heights. He orders them to rob an armored cash transport vehicle loaded with funds belonging to the rival agency, the IAA, and seize the money for the FIB's black ops budget. Michael protests vehemently, citing a lack of preparation time, but Steve dismisses his concerns and forces the operation forward.

Left with no choice, the trio, under Michael's leadership, plans a classic ambush tactic dubbed 'Blitz Play.' They devise a strategy to block the road in an industrial alley with a garbage truck and use a tow truck to ram the transport vehicle, causing it to overturn. To achieve this, the three divide roles according to their situations and begin procuring equipment simultaneously.

First, disguise items are needed to hide their identities. One of the protagonists visits the mask shop at Vespucci Beach to purchase three masks for the operation. Next, they head to an Ammu-Nation store in the Strawberry area to secure three sets of boiler suits to wear at the crime scene. This is a thorough preparatory step to avoid investigation.

Next, they must hijack the large vehicles that are central to the operation. The protagonist spots a large garbage truck, a Trashmaster, patrolling near Mirror Park, ambushes the driver, and seizes the vehicle. Immediately after the hijacking, a police pursuit begins; the protagonist breaks through a 2-star wanted level dragnet, shakes the pursuit, and parks the garbage truck at a lot designated by the FIB.

A tow truck to physically strike the transport is also essential. The protagonist finds and steals an old tow truck from a parking lot in Los Santos or the LSPD impound lot in the Rancho area. Since this tow truck will be used as an impact weapon to ram the heavy armored vehicle from the side, it is staged in a hidden location near the operation site in Cypress Flats.

Finally, a getaway vehicle is needed for a quick escape from the scene. The protagonists steal an ordinary, inconspicuous 4-door car and park it in an alley that is reasonably far from the heist site but out of police sight. Once the vehicle placement is complete, they call Michael or Lester to share the location. When all preparations are finished, Michael contacts Franklin and Trevor to order the final assembly.

  1. Blitz Play · Ambush on the Road

With all preparations complete, Michael, Franklin, and Trevor don their boiler suits and masks and head to the ambush point in Cypress Flats. Michael performs a final check of their roles. Trevor takes a high vantage point to monitor the transport's approach, Michael drives the garbage truck to block the escape route, and Franklin waits with the tow truck to strike the transport.

Moments later, Trevor spots the IAA armored cash transport entering the alley through his scope and signals via radio. Michael immediately drives the garbage truck into the middle of the alley, positioning it horizontally to completely seal the road. The moment the transport driver panics and slams on the brakes, Franklin, who was hiding in the alley, floors the accelerator of the tow truck.

The tow truck, moving at full speed, slams into the side of the transport, and the heavy armored vehicle overturns completely with a thunderous crash. Michael and Franklin immediately approach the rear doors of the transport, plant explosives, and blow the doors off. They neutralize the guards inside and secure the IAA bonds, which are the target. However, the guards have already requested backup from the LSPD.

Soon, a massive police force surrounds and descends upon Cypress Flats. The trio abandons the idea of escape and establishes defensive lines at their respective positions. Trevor destroys police helicopters and patrol cars from his high vantage point with a rocket launcher and sniper rifle, while Michael and Franklin engage the pouring police officers from behind cover on the ground. As the situation worsens, heavily armed NOOSE special forces are deployed, but the police dragnet slowly crumbles before the trio's overwhelming firepower.

As the police presence thins, Michael instructs Franklin to drive the garbage truck to the location of the pre-staged getaway vehicle. Franklin drives the garbage truck away from the scene, and upon reaching the getaway vehicle, he throws a sticky bomb at the garbage truck to blow it up. Having completely destroyed the evidence, he switches to the getaway vehicle and slips away.

Meanwhile, Michael, carrying the bonds, heads to billionaire Devin Weston's mansion as instructed by Steve Haines. Upon arriving at the mansion, Michael encounters Devin, who is engrossed in a smartphone game. Michael hands over the bonds he risked his life to steal, but Devin treats them as trivial. This operation ultimately resulted in stealing funds from a massive agency only to hand them over to another corrupt capitalist, and Michael painfully realizes that they are being thoroughly used.

  1. Devin Weston · The Capitalist and the Car List

Having delivered the bonds secured in Blitz Play, Michael faces Devin Weston directly. Devin is a billionaire businessman who also holds shares in Merryweather. It is revealed that the job of risking their lives to steal cash for the FIB is also linked to the interests of such private capitalists. Michael is not freed just because he carried out orders from corrupt government agents.

Devin, impressed by Michael's skills, proposes another job. What he wants are rare and expensive cars. Michael shows no immediate interest in the errand of stealing cars. He already came out of retirement to settle his debt to Madrazo, and as a result, he is now saddled with instructions from Dave and Steve. Starting work for another employer is like adding another layer to the shackles he was trying to escape.

Instead of simple money, Devin offers a trade condition based on a dream Michael has held for a long time. He says he can introduce him to film producer Solomon Richards. Solomon is the person who made the movies Michael loved, and to Michael, Vinewood was a world he wanted to reach, more than just a street for the wealthy. Devin recognizes that very aspiration and uses it as a reason for Michael to accept the criminal work.

Eventually, Michael turns his attention to the car recovery job. Devin's legal counsel, Molly Schultz, handles the practical side, and subsequently, Michael, Franklin, and Trevor move according to the vehicle list. The first job the three undertake together and the subsequent car thefts centered on Franklin proceed in different locations and ways. The next part will follow the sequence from stealing two sports cars while disguised as police officers to the Z-Type and the JB700 at the film studio.

This encounter shows that the powers the three protagonists must deal with are not limited to corruption within the FIB. Devin commissions work with money and connections, and even holds the opportunity for Michael to enter the film industry, which he desires. It appears as though a path has opened for Michael to enter the field he admired, but it comes with the condition that the person opening the door demands new crimes. As Franklin and Trevor are also dragged into this deal, the relationship with Devin begins.
