Spoiler Notice: This is a 20-part detailed series explaining the GTA V single-player campaign from the introduction to the three endings. This is a narrative commentary based on in-game events, not an official novel or script. Missions and optional events occurring simultaneously may vary in chronological order. The heist approaches and Endings A, B, and C are mutually exclusive alternatives, not consecutive events. 1. The Jewel Store Job · Smart and Loud Approaches

Under the meticulous planning of Lester Crest, Michael De Santa and Franklin Clinton hold a briefing at the garment factory to rob the Vangelico jewelry store. This heist is executed via one of two mutually exclusive approaches chosen beforehand. Michael assigns roles to the team—hacker, gunman, and driver—emphasizing that regardless of the method, the goal is to sweep the jewelry from the display cases as quickly as possible.
If the Smart approach is chosen, the team moves to minimize noise and physical confrontation. Franklin climbs to the roof of the jewelry store to release sleeping gas through the ventilation system. Once the gas fills the store and renders the staff and customers unconscious, Michael and his team enter through the front door disguised as pest control workers, wearing gas masks to safely secure the jewels.
Conversely, if the Loud approach is chosen, the team breaks in with weapons drawn. Michael and his crew storm the store, using firearms to threaten guards and customers, forcing them to the floor to control the scene. While the gunman monitors the crowd, Michael and the driver smash the display cases and sweep the jewelry into their bags.
In both methods, the hacker's skill is a key variable in the operation. Once the hacker disables the store's security system, a limited time is granted before the alarm sounds; higher hacker proficiency provides more time for the team to collect the loot. Conversely, hiring an unskilled hacker causes the alarm system to recover quickly, forcing the team to flee the store in a rush.
During the Loud approach, unexpected situations may arise depending on the gunman's skill. If a low-skill gunman like Norm Richards is hired, he fails to properly control the crowd. This allows the store manager to emerge from the office and resist, forcing Michael to step in and physically subdue the manager to continue the operation.
After achieving the objectives inside the store, the team exits quickly. Michael instructs Franklin to lead the getaway on motorcycles while he proceeds on foot to secure a large truck to block the police pursuit. With this, the robbery inside the jewelry store concludes, and the high-speed chase through downtown Los Santos begins.
2. Motorcycle Escape · Traces Left by Money and Voice

Immediately after exiting the jewelry store, Michael encounters a traffic cop blocking the escape route. Michael roughly shoves the officer aside and delivers his signature threatening line, telling him that since he forgets a thousand things every day, he should make sure to forget this one too. This brief moment of arrogance becomes the decisive clue that later reveals his survival to the world.
While Michael leaves the scene on foot, Franklin and the team mount the prepared motorcycles. They speed through the complex roads of downtown Los Santos, shaking off the intense police pursuit, and attempt to escape the dragnet by entering the underground construction tunnel located beneath the Del Perro Freeway.
During the passage through the dark tunnels and storm drains, the team's driving skill is put to the test. If a low-skill member was hired in the previous stage, he fails to control his motorcycle at the tunnel entrance and crashes into a wall, dying instantly. In this case, Franklin must approach and retrieve the dropped jewelry bag himself to prevent a loss of profit.
After exiting the storm drain and reaching the Los Santos River, Franklin and his group are closely pursued by police cruisers. At this point, Michael, who was waiting with the hacker in a large truck, joins them. Michael uses the massive truck to ram and crush the pursuing police cars, securing a safe escape route for the motorcycle team.
After the police pursuit is broken, Franklin and the team ride their motorcycles into the truck's cargo bay. Once all personnel and cargo are safely loaded, Michael drives the truck to the hideout. Lester, who was waiting there, takes the stolen jewelry to process it as fence goods and dismisses the team, promising to wire their respective shares.
After the heist is successfully completed, Michael and Franklin toast to their success at Michael's mansion in Rockford Hills. However, the mood shifts when FIB agent Dave Norton arrives unannounced. Dave mentions the jewelry store robbery reported on Weazel News, pointing out that the specific line Michael uttered to the traffic cop was broadcasted on live television.
Dave warns Michael that this incident will attract the attention of his former associate, Trevor Philips. Michael desperately denies reality, firmly believing that Trevor died long ago, but the arrogant trace he left behind had already extended beyond Los Santos to the deserts of Blaine County.
3. Mr. Philips · The Explosion in Sandy Shores

Inside a dilapidated trailer in Sandy Shores, Trevor Philips is watching Weazel News while with Ashley Butler. On the news screen, a witness to the jewelry store heist is reciting the threatening line heard from the perpetrator. Upon hearing that sentence, Trevor realizes that his former associate Michael Townley is alive, and in a state of shock, he storms out of the trailer.
As Trevor wanders outside in a daze, Johnny Klebitz, a high-ranking member of The Lost MC and Ashley's boyfriend, blocks his path. Johnny angrily confronts Trevor for his involvement with Ashley, while Trevor's associates, Ron Jakowski and Wade Hebert, watch the situation with anxious expressions.
Initially ignoring Johnny's words, Trevor soon unleashes his suppressed madness. He quickly chokes Johnny, throws him to the ground, and mercilessly stomps his head to death with his boot. Ashley rushes over, clutching Johnny's mangled corpse and sobbing, but Trevor feels no remorse.
Fueled by the news of Michael's survival and the adrenaline of the murder, Trevor decides to completely eradicate The Lost MC presence in the region. He boards his truck with Ron and Wade, heading toward Grape Seed, and instructs Wade to go to Los Santos to find Michael's whereabouts.
Arriving at a farm in Grape Seed, Trevor encounters Lost MC members Terry Thorpe and Clay Simons. When they ask about Johnny's whereabouts, Trevor calmly reveals that he just killed him. As the horrified members flee in a van, Trevor immediately begins the pursuit.
The chase leads to the trailer park in Stab City, the headquarters of The Lost MC in Blaine County. Trevor wages an all-out war against the remaining Lost MC members stationed there, turning the camp into a ruin and completely breaking the momentum of the rival organization in the region.
After clearing out Stab City, Trevor and Ron head to the trailer of Ortega, the leader of the Varrios Los Aztecas gang. Trevor uses his truck to push Ortega's trailer into the Zancudo River. He declares to the drowning Ortega that all gun and drug trades in this region must now go through 'Trevor Philips Enterprises,' and leaves the player with the choice of whether to execute Ortega on the spot or spare his life.
Returning to his trailer after concluding all matters, Trevor decides to settle his remaining business in Sandy Shores before leaving to find Michael. Ron worries that the information leaked on the news might be a trap to lure Trevor out, but Trevor is convinced that Michael is alive and hurries to prepare for his departure to Los Santos.
4. Trevor Philips Industries · A New Business Partner

Trevor heads to the Yellow Jack Inn to expand the business of 'Trevor Philips Enterprises.' There, he attempts to negotiate with Tao Cheng, a Chinese businessman, and his translator, who could become a new drug trade partner.
However, Tao Cheng is so intoxicated by alcohol and drugs that he cannot understand English at all, and he displays bizarre and unstable behavior throughout the meeting. Disappointed by Tao's lack of basic business sense, Trevor considers refusing the deal, but changes his mind due to the translator's desperate persuasion and decides to show him his drug manufacturing facility.
Trevor puts Tao and his party in his car and heads to the meth lab hidden behind a liquor store. During the drive, Trevor calls Chef, his subordinate who manages the lab, to announce their visit. However, Chef delivers the urgent news that Aztecas gang members are swarming the lab for revenge, harboring a grudge over the incident where Trevor pushed Ortega's trailer into the river.
Upon arriving at the lab and realizing that an enemy attack is imminent, Trevor forcibly shoves Tao Cheng and the translator into a large ice freezer outside the building and locks the door. While this was a measure to protect the business partners from the shootout, it also revealed Trevor's characteristically rough and violent nature without filter.
Trevor enters the building to join Chef, and they engage in a massive shootout with the incoming Aztecas members. The two move between windows and the roof, deploying heavy weapons like grenade launchers to wage a fierce defensive battle against the gang members swarming from all sides.
The nature of this battle changes depending on the choice made in the previous mission. If Trevor spared Ortega at the Zancudo River, Ortega leads the Aztecas members in the attack on the lab and ultimately meets his end at Trevor's hands during this shootout. If Ortega is already dead, regular gang members lead the attack.
After completely crushing the Aztecas' offensive with overwhelming firepower, Trevor opens the freezer door to let out the trapped Tao Cheng and his translator. Shivering from the cold and the noise of the horrific shootout, the two are left in shock at Trevor's insane business methods.
Unfazed by the terrified reaction of Tao's party, Trevor proudly declares that the massacre that just took place is proof that his organization is the most powerful and reliable supplier in Blaine County. Through this violent encounter, Trevor succeeds in securing a new trade route, but the uneasy alliance with the Cheng family becomes the spark for a massive conflict in the future.
