Key information

Ninja Theory personnel have shared on LinkedIn that they are facing job losses or are currently at risk, following reports highlighted by journalist Chris Kerr. Affected roles include technical directors, gameplay programmers, technical artists, and sound designers.

The third title in the series, Senua, was showcased during June at the Xbox Games Showcase, featuring a release window set for 2027 across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox. Although Xbox has not officially canceled the project, gameplay programmer Katrin Mair noted sadness that the team would not finish their work.

Xbox CEO Asha Sharma stated in July that the studio had secured terms to transition to new ownership with funding to complete Senua. However, Xbox chief content officer Matt Booty informed staff in September that two separate agreements had collapsed, initiating a proposed closure consultation while alternative options continue to be evaluated.

Neither Xbox nor the developer has disclosed the exact total of impacted workers, and the studio closure remains a formal proposal at this time. An all-hands town hall is organized by Xbox for October 6, which may provide further information regarding the situation.
