Key information
Alinea Analytics reports that Gears of War: E-Day has generated $37 million in total revenue since its launch. While Steam sales reached 168,000 units, the platform only contributed $11 million to the total earnings.
The game's total sales volume is estimated at 230,000 copies, with 62,000 units sold on Xbox platforms. Despite lower individual copy sales, Xbox accounted for $26 million of the total revenue, significantly outpacing the Steam figures.
Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics notes that the Xbox ecosystem's financial performance is driven by the Game Pass subscription model. Approximately 1.7 million users accessed the title through the service, while 722,000 subscribers purchased a $30 Premium Edition upgrade.
These figures indicate that Xbox players generated 130% more revenue than those on Steam. The data suggests that the majority of the game's owner base and financial success are tied to the Xbox Game Pass platform rather than traditional storefront purchases.
