Key information
Embark Studios is developing proprietary machine-learning models to combat cheating in Arc Raiders. Executive producer Aleks stated that the developer previously withheld details to hinder cheat engine creators, but is now disclosing information to address player frustration regarding the ongoing arms race against cheaters.
The studio currently utilizes Denuvo kernel-level protection alongside Anybrain’s AI service. These third-party tools are being supplemented by internal models that analyze data to identify suspicious behavior, allowing the team to refine detection capabilities as new cheating methods emerge.
Enforcement policies have become significantly stricter, with permanent bans now serving as the standard penalty for offenders. Embark Studios has implemented license-based blacklisting, where a banned game copy results in the permanent suspension of all associated accounts. Furthermore, the developer plans to introduce hardware-level bans later this year to deter repeat offenders.
While these measures aim to satisfy community demands, the developer acknowledges the risk of inadvertently banning innocent players, particularly those who might purchase used hardware previously flagged by anti-cheat systems. Aleks emphasized that while cheating may never be fully eradicated, these aggressive strategies are intended to serve as a strong deterrent.
