Ubisoft is continuing its organizational restructuring through significant layoffs and studio closures. The company is cutting 70 positions from the Ubisoft Singapore team, which developed the pirate-themed title Skull and Bones, while simultaneously shutting down the Finnish studio RedLynx.

RedLynx, known for the Trials franchise including Trials HD and Trials Evolution, had transitioned into a support studio role following the 2019 release of Trials Rising. The closure of this facility will result in up to 52 employees losing their jobs.

The development of Skull and Bones was marked by a lengthy and troubled production cycle. Despite being marketed by Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot as a quadruple-A project with a 70 dollar price tag, the game faced numerous delays before its launch in early 2024.

These actions are part of a broader corporate strategy to reduce costs and create a leaner operation. Ubisoft aims to focus its resources on a smaller portfolio of titles, a shift that has led to multiple studio closures, project cancellations, and workforce reductions across the company in recent years.
