Offworld Industries has officially announced that its tactical shooter Squad is expanding from PC to Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. While the full console launch remains undated, PlayStation 5 users can access a playable alpha test scheduled from October 16 to October 25.
The console iteration aims to maintain the core 50v50 match structure found in the original PC release. To accommodate controller play, the developer is introducing a radial wheel system designed for issuing commands and pings, alongside promises of bespoke polish to ensure performance stability.
Offworld Industries confirmed that the console version will feature handpicked maps and optional crossplay functionality between console platforms. The developer intends to deliver an optimized experience, though Xbox players currently lack a confirmed testing window prior to the eventual full release.
Since its 2020 PC debut, Squad has been recognized for balancing military simulation elements with faster-paced action. The title now faces potential competition from other tactical shooters like Wardogs, which is currently slated for a 2028 console release.
