At OSAKA INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2026, STUDIO PEPPERMILL showcased their point-and-click puzzle game, Where's My Red Ball?. Previously highlighted by Shuhei Yoshida at BIC2025, the title tasks players with finding the perfect red ball for a demanding cat. The developer confirmed the narrative has shifted from a parent-child story to a tale about sisters, inspired by the creator's own childhood experiences.
Gameplay involves interacting with objects to locate a specific, flawless red ball. The cat rejects items that are dirty, dented, or incorrectly sized. Recent builds introduce expanded mechanics, including action elements and observational puzzles. Successfully delivering the correct ball triggers a joyful reaction from the cat, which the developer notes reflects a younger sister's desire to support her sibling.
The narrative is now revealed through diary fragments discovered as players progress. While the events are fictional, they are grounded in the developer's memories of sibling dynamics. The game is planned to feature 60 stages, with 30 currently completed. Development resumed in May 2026 following a hiatus, and the team is now focusing on refining animations and visual effects.
The studio is targeting a release in the first quarter of 2027. A demo is currently available on Steam for players to experience the game's unique charm firsthand.
