Gudea, a startup founded in 2023, is positioning itself as an internet storm tracker by utilizing artificial intelligence to help organizations identify potential public controversies before they escalate. The company presented its mission at TechCrunch Disrupt 2026, arguing that businesses must shift from reactive monitoring to proactive reputation defense.
Unlike traditional social listening tools that focus on metrics like hashtag counts or impressions, Gudea analyzes behavioral patterns and information pathways across over 500 websites. By examining how narratives move between platforms such as X, Reddit, and TikTok, the system provides context on who is driving a conversation and where it is heading.
The company originated from the George Washington Initiative, a nonprofit that applied intelligence community tactics to domestic information campaigns. CEO Keith Presley notes that the prevalence of inauthentic activity has surged, with approximately nine out of 10 monitored subjects now showing such behavior, compared to one in four in 2021.
Gudea currently serves nearly 40 clients, including Fortune 50 companies and government agencies. Following a recent $7 million seed round co-led by Mudita Venture Partners and Silicon Road Ventures, the firm has raised approximately $15 million total. Future plans include launching narrative geolocation technology next year to track conversations with city-block precision.
