Key information
Blizzard has announced significant changes to the PvP system in World of Warcraft: Forever, moving away from the intense, leaderboard-focused grind of the original game. The developer aims to make prestigious titles and gear accessible to a broader audience without requiring players to dedicate their entire lives to maintaining a rank.
The new progression model utilizes Honor as a currency earned through battlegrounds, quests, and defeating enemy players. Blizzard has normalized Honor gains across all battlegrounds to ensure consistent efficiency. Players will accumulate Rank points to unlock 14 tiers of rewards, including powerful gear and classic titles like High Warlord or Grand Marshal.
To prevent rapid completion, Rank points are subject to a weekly cap. The system is structured around seasonal resets, which allow for the introduction of new rewards. Each season will feature weekly tasks providing bonus Honor, Rank points, and Legacy Points, which contribute to the game's account-wide meta progression system.
While some veterans may prefer the original competitive structure, Blizzard emphasizes that the new approach aligns with the game's goal of capturing the classic spirit while remaining realistic for modern players. The developer maintains that player competition remains an essential component of the experience.
