Key information
An early version of the PlayStation 5 exclusive Marvel's Wolverine was leaked following a December 2023 Rhysida ransomware attack against Sony and Insomniac that stole 1.7 TB of data. Utilizing source code from this leak, a developer known as u/Clean-Market5761 created an unauthorized PC port of the game.
The project is currently described as a buggy mess featuring missing textures. In shared screenshots, Wolverine's entire head is absent in some images, while another shows only his head with no visible body. The creator stated that neither the KytyPS5 nor AnyPS5 emulators were used, but credited the 2023 leak as key to understanding how to generate a PC executable.
Skeptics have questioned the project, claiming the screenshots might be fake or from the old 2023 build, while another individual claimed to have ported the game to PC first. The developer defended the work by stating the screenshots came from a jailbroken PS5 running in developer mode and compared asset differences.
The developer admitted to using artificial intelligence for assistance with scripting and automated asset conversion, though manual trial and error were also involved. According to u/Clean-Market5761, the missing head on the playable character is due to the PS5 shader library not being ported to render hair, which otherwise freezes the game.
