Key information

Warhorse co-founder Martin Klima has spoken out about the corporate reliance on artificial intelligence within the video game industry. He stated that artificial intelligence is not a magic solution to industry problems and criticized what he perceives as a simplified mental model held by executives.

Addressing the assumption that machines can simply replace human workers to cut budgets, Klima argued that laying off large portions of a development team is fundamentally flawed. He suggests that rather than shrinking teams, studios will likely keep human headcounts stable while using the technology as augmentation.

According to Klima, player demand for larger experiences means that companies will use these tools to build bigger games for the same overall cost rather than lowering expenses. He noted this could result in features such as increased branching classes and additional missions.

Other industry figures have expressed varying stances on the technology. CD Projekt Red stated it will predominantly rely on human creators for future projects like The Witcher 4, while Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick remarked that the technology can assist developers despite clones failing to sell.
