Key information
Slitherine's Warhammer: Blood Bowl, scheduled for release in the fall, functions as an upgrade rather than a brand-new game according to a PC Gamer beta preview. Solo play historically accounted for 70 to 80% of Blood Bowl 3 matches. The upcoming title introduces a save-and-quit feature against the AI and incorporates the tabletop's third season rules update.
A major addition is Rumble Mode, derived from the Sevens tabletop format on a smaller pitch with six-turn halves and doubled reroll costs. It removes the standard scrimmage line, replacing it with a neutral zone to protect fragile teams. Additionally, the first campaign chapter now defaults to Rumble Mode.
Reviewer assessments of the beta indicate that the AI appears slightly improved in managing smaller matches, though it still occasionally executes risky plays. Slitherine's new entry also integrates updated passing rules, anti-stalling mechanics penalizing time-wasters, and revised MVP selection targeting nominated players.
The public playtest begins on October 7 on Steam, with the full launch slated for the end of the year. The beta lacks the upcoming Tomb Kings and Bretonnians teams, alongside the shop and season pass systems, leaving monetization details unconfirmed.
