Developer King Art Games states that Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 will feature more single-player content at launch than any other real-time strategy game ever, dwarfing all previous entries in the franchise according to creative director Jan Theysen.
The title includes four fully fleshed-out launch campaigns for the Space Marines, Orks, Necrons, and Adeptus Mechanicus, offering over 70 missions total. Each individual faction campaign is reportedly bigger in mission count and likely gameplay hours than the entire campaign of Dawn of War 1.
Campaigns feature branching storylines meaning players will not experience every mission in a single playthrough. The experience begins with two Astra Militarum tutorial missions before moving into faction-specific mechanics like the Ork economy and the Adeptus Mechanicus Imperial Knight.
Additional single-player offerings are scheduled after the December release. Post-launch updates include Crusade Modes, map packs, mission editors, and Last Stand Crusades, alongside paid additions such as a Blood Ravens story prologue and an Aftermath campaign expansion.
