Key information

Developer Bit Reactor has initiated the process of rehiring staff members who were previously furloughed. Earlier this year, the studio placed over 80% of its workforce on unpaid leave due to sales uncertainty surrounding the release of Star Wars Zero Company. The studio recently confirmed on Bluesky that it is actively reversing this measure.

CEO Greg Foertsch attributed the initial layoffs to unexpected business developments beyond the company's control. He stated that the difficult choice was intended to ensure the studio could eventually restore its workforce. Reports from Game File indicate that the developer's current payroll has recovered to more than half of its pre-furlough capacity.

Despite the staffing challenges, the game achieved success on the Steam best seller's list. PC Gamer associate editor Ted Litchfield provided a positive assessment, labeling the title a stunning debut for the studio and a new all-timer within the Star Wars franchise. While the launch experienced technical issues, the developer released a patch shortly after to address prominent concerns.

The decision to furlough employees was made internally by Bit Reactor rather than by publisher EA. The reduction in staff had previously hindered the studio's ability to provide post-launch support for the game. With the current recall efforts, the studio aims to stabilize its operations following the project's release.
