Key information
Best Buy has initiated a clearance sale for the original MSI Claw (A1M) handheld gaming PC, currently priced at $562.99. This model features an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H processor, 16GB of memory, and a 1TB SSD, positioning it as a competitively priced option compared to other handhelds on the market.
The device includes a 7-inch 1080p display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Its physical design and layout closely resemble the original Asus ROG Ally, featuring a single USB-C port and a microSD card slot. Users also have the option to replace the internal SSD for storage expansion.
Performance-wise, the Meteor Lake chip falls 5% to 10% behind the Z1 Extreme. While it achieves playable frame rates in titles like Horizon Zero Dawn and Cyberpunk 2077, it requires a relatively high power draw. Consequently, the device suffers from shorter battery life compared to competitors, making a quality USB-C charger essential.
Although the software experience is noted as less refined than that of Asus handhelds, MSI has released numerous firmware and overlay updates since the product's initial launch to improve functionality.
