Microsoft has confirmed that Advanced Shader Delivery, a technology supplying pre-compiled shaders alongside titles, will expand to NVIDIA GeForce RTX hardware and the RTX Spark platform later this month. According to Microsoft, developers can utilize this feature to accelerate load times and minimize gameplay stutters caused by shaders.
The upcoming rollout will bring compatibility to all RTX-based GeForce setups. Alongside NVIDIA integration, Microsoft intends to introduce support for Intel Core Ultra Series 2, Intel Core Ultra Series 3, and Intel Arc B-Series models such as B570 and B580. Existing compatibility covers Qualcomm Snapdragon X2 Series featuring Adreno integrated graphics alongside multiple AMD RDNA generations.
Demonstrations involving early access to Gears of War: E-Day revealed that leveraging pre-compiled shaders dropped compilation duration by 95 percent while heavily mitigating stuttering. However, TechPowerUp reported that the feature did not function during their testing. They noted that NVIDIA drivers supporting the functionality are scheduled for release following launch, whereas testing on AMD hardware with driver version 26.9.2 still triggered a complete fifteen-minute compilation process despite reviewer guide specifications requiring driver version 26.7.1 or newer.
