Key information
Marvel's Wolverine is reaching a peak of 20 frames per second on the KytyPS5 emulator just days after booting to the main menu at approximately 2 frames per second. X user @MizoChris posted video footage showing the character moving at roughly that rate, while YouTuber Unreal Gaming PC conducted a longer test using a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and an RTX 4080 graphics card.
The testing used Senaxx's September 30 build of the emulator, which consumed almost the entire 16 GB of VRAM on the graphics card. While the title hit 20 frames per second during testing, typical gameplay generally hovered between 6 and 9 frames per second, rising to 15 to 20 frames per second during less active scenes.
Development on the emulator shows rapid progress toward playability, with the software previously advancing Demon's Souls Remake from 1 to 2 frames per second up to 30 frames per second within days. Despite these technical milestones, the title remains far from fully playable, and other software on the emulator continues to experience crashes and performance hurdles.
The software's rapid progression highlights faster-than-expected advances in console emulation, though the title launched on September 15 as a Sony PlayStation exclusive. Sony has previously moved away from personal computer ports for the foreseeable future, though emulation developments do not indicate upcoming personal computer releases for other titles.
