Key information

German utility provider and energy retailer SWK Energie has introduced a new marketing strategy aimed at gamers called meinGAMING. The plan features extensive gamer-focused marketing, comparing its reliability to a favorite server and utilizing influencer marketing by game streamers such as Limcube.

Despite the gaming theme, the plan does not actually provide specialized power, but is instead an electricity plan intended for high-consumption households. The company states in its FAQ that the tariff is worthwhile for households that consume over 2,500 kWh annually through activities like gaming, streaming, or running numerous devices.

The meinGAMING plan features a higher base price, meaning it is not recommended for households that fail to meet the minimum recommended power usage. Additionally, interested Germany-based consumers are advised to compare current rates with the new offering, as tariffs can vary depending on location.

As an additional feature, SWK Energie claims that the electricity is 100% sourced from renewable energy, though how the company ensures the power genuinely comes from renewable sources remains an open question.
