Key information
Gears of War: E-Day, which launched on October 6, 2026, for Xbox Series and PC, has experienced significant service disruptions. Developer The Coalition confirmed that these issues, including login failures and unexpected disconnections, were caused by distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks targeting the game's online infrastructure.
The attacks involved flooding servers with a massive volume of requests from multiple devices, which hindered legitimate connections. While the game's campaign can be played offline, some users reported synchronization errors when attempting to access their save files during the period of instability.
Initial disruptions were noted on October 11, 2026. Although The Coalition previously announced that login difficulties were resolved, the issues persisted, affecting both multiplayer modes and campaign progression. The studio stated that its teams are actively monitoring and mitigating the activity to prevent further service interruptions.
As of October 12, 2026, Xbox Support reported that services for the title have returned to normal. Despite this restoration, The Coalition continues to maintain vigilance regarding the situation. The game remains a major release for Microsoft this year, featuring the return of characters Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago.
