King Art Games is developing Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4, featuring competitive multiplayer and the return of the Blood Ravens alongside the Dark Angels. Creative director Jan Theysen explained that Space Marines are elite units that are expensive and few in number.
According to Theysen, Space Marine units can build anywhere on the map from orbit without a builder. Players can specialize equipment, such as giving Intercessors longer range or faster Auto Bolters, and configure Dreadnoughts against vehicles or infantry.
Theysen noted that animating Space Marines posed challenges due to heavy armor restricting movement while needing to remain fast and strong. Additionally, the game starts the tutorial with Guards to establish a normal baseline compared to Space Marines.
The game was pushed back from September to December to incorporate feedback from playtests and polish performance and visuals. Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 is scheduled to launch on PC on December 3, 2026.
