The Frozen Trail update for Arc Raiders introduced an outpost system that extends beyond simple cosmetic building. While players may initially focus on upgrading the Gunsmith or Research Bench, crafting furniture is essential for expanding inventory capacity. This feature provides hundreds of additional storage slots for weapons and items, proving far more functional than mere decoration.
To unlock this capability, players must reach level 18 and initiate the Sheltered Retreat project. The process requires photographing the Ruined Homestead, donating specific materials like planks and sheet metal, and damaging a flying arc. Once completed, players can recycle existing boxes to gather resources and begin crafting various furniture pieces.
Furniture options include wall-mounted shelves and gun racks, alongside standing units. Players can place full item stacks on these pieces by selecting the decorate option. Additional blueprints for these items are discoverable in residential areas, such as Old Town in Pendola Pass. A convenient clear all attached items function allows for the rapid return of stored goods to the main stash.
Despite the benefits of filling the three available outpost rooms with furniture, players should exercise caution during construction.
