Blizzard has announced plans to update the visual appearance of the Skyborne, a new race in World of Warcraft: Forever. The developer aims to provide a retro makeover for these characters to better align with the aesthetic of the original 2004 MMO.
The Skyborne, a faction of High Elves, previously faced criticism for appearing too modern compared to the game's older, lower-fidelity player models. Blizzard acknowledged that the initial designs lacked the consistency and cohesion required for the game world.
The updated models feature harsher lines, muted colors, and more jagged, low-poly shapes. These changes are intended to help the characters fit the classic style of the game. While HD model adjustments are underway, SD model updates for the Skyborne are expected to arrive early next year.
World of Warcraft: Forever is scheduled to launch on November 4. The developer intends to provide further updates regarding the model adjustments as development progresses toward completion.
