Key information
BAFTA has distributed more than £270,000 in funding to 112 individuals across the United Kingdom and North America. This financial support is provided through the 2026 Prince William BAFTA Bursary and scholarship initiatives, which aim to assist emerging professionals within the games, film, and television sectors.
The Prince William Bursary provided grants to 100 recipients, marking a 40% increase compared to the previous year. These grants, reaching up to £2,000, help individuals in the UK cover practical expenses such as software, equipment, training, and relocation costs.
Scholarship recipients in the UK may receive up to £12,000 for living expenses and tuition, alongside mentorship opportunities. Meanwhile, US-based scholars can receive up to $60,000 to assist with studies at institutions including Stanford University and New York University.
BAFTA deputy chair Hilary Rosen stated that these programs provide essential support to creatives who might otherwise face barriers to entering the industry. Data from 2024 and 2025 cohorts indicates that 98% of recipients felt the grants allowed them to pursue career opportunities that were previously inaccessible.
