Key information

A free browser title titled Fallout: New York has been taken offline following legal action from Bethesda's parent corporation, ZeniMax Media. The project was initially revealed by user Chris First on September 28, quickly gaining significant online attention before being pulled offline after lasting only a few days.

The developer built the browser project using Claude Opus 5.5, creating a game featuring numerous locations, characters, and weapons, alongside functional dialogue trees, quests, V.A.T.S., and a Pip-Boy. Notably, the creator stated that the release lacked texture or sound files, relying entirely on code generation for its assets.

According to the received notice, ZeniMax Media asserted an obligation as a trademark holder to monitor and enforce actions against unauthorized and infringing trademark uses. Consequently, the project was made private, while Bethesda has chosen not to make any public comments regarding the situation.

Meanwhile, official franchise updates indicate multiple projects currently in development, including four titles managed by Bethesda and another reportedly coming from inXile Entertainment.
