Producer Takeshi Yamanaka announced that Phoenix Cyclops will join the roster of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls on November 2 (Pacific Time). As the first additional character for the Year 1 Pass, this version of Scott Summers utilizes both his signature optic blasts and the destructive power of the Phoenix Force.
The character features a unique combat style where players accumulate 'Solar Shards' by using optic blasts. Collecting four shards allows the player to trigger a Dark Phoenix transformation. While this provides a significant power boost, it also carries the risk of consuming the character's health, requiring players to manage the Phoenix Force carefully to secure victory.
To address fan expectations for traditional designs, the developer is releasing 'Classic' and 'Legacy' DLC costumes alongside the character. This approach aims to balance the new, narrative-driven Phoenix version with the familiar aesthetics long-time fans of the franchise expect.
Additionally, a sale for the Ultimate Edition is currently live on the PlayStation Store, and a three-hour game trial is available for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Phoenix Cyclops will be playable for the first time at EVO France, held from October 9 to October 11.
