Key information
Ember Lab has announced that the upcoming title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, will now launch in 2027. The developer stated that the delay is necessary to ensure the game meets their quality standards and provides a more complete, expansive experience than their 2021 debut. The team is currently focused on development and polishing the project for its eventual release on PC and PS5.
The sequel maintains the character-driven, linear narrative style of the original while significantly increasing the world's scale and depth. Players will explore the mysterious island of Kosmora, where Kena seeks answers about her past and her future as a Spirit Guide. The narrative explores Kena's personal growth as she confronts her own pain while helping others navigate their grief.
Gameplay introduces new mechanics, including complex dungeons centered on an ancient system of elements and alchemy. Exploration is enhanced by a new traversal method featuring a crystal dog companion. This creature serves as both a mount and a combat ally, assisting Kena in battles and puzzle-solving. The world also features diverse civilizations with unique histories and challenges for players to encounter.
Kena continues her role as a warrior and healer, tasked with clearing corruption caused by the unresolved pain of the deceased. The game will be available in both physical and digital formats upon its 2027 release, with availability subject to regional adjustments.
