Developer Animalsoft has released a free playable demo for its upcoming aquarium simulation game, Indoor Shrimp Farming Simulator, on PC via Steam. The title, which supports Japanese, serves as the first commercial project from the small indie studio.
The game begins as an incremental clicker where players manage tanks to breed over 1,700 color variations of shrimp to earn money. However, the gameplay evolves significantly as players invest in upgrades, eventually allowing shrimp to escape their tanks to explore the outside world.
Once outside, the game shifts into a third-person 3D adventure. Players can navigate the town on foot or by skateboard, interact with other shrimp characters, complete unique requests, and even utilize firearms. The developers describe the experience as a love letter to video games and absurdity, featuring unexpected narrative developments.
The demo became available on October 9, 2026, and will participate in the Steam Next Fest: October 2026 event from October 19 to 26. The full version of the game is currently in development for a scheduled release on November 19, 2026.
