DANGEN Entertainment and developer Tiago Rech have released a free demo for the upcoming narrative horror adventure game, I Shall Name the Dead. The title is currently scheduled for a Steam release in early 2027.
Players control Imaculada, a woman infected by a mysterious parasitic organism known as a worm. She wanders a vast, surreal graveyard to restore names to forgotten souls. By exploring the environment and listening to the voices of the dead, players piece together fragments of memory to uncover the pasts of those buried there.
The game features a unique dialogue system where the parasitic worm attempts to interfere with choices and steal the protagonist's words. Players must utilize a limited supply of matches to resist the worm's influence and maintain control over their own speech, adding tension to the narrative experience.
The game's visual style consists of hand-drawn art by Lirio Ninotchka, who previously collaborated with Rech on I Did Not Buy This Ticket. The demo allows players to explore the early game, encounter strange inhabitants of the graveyard, and experience the core mechanics of the title.
