Swedish developer Dazed Games announced that its physics-based fishing title, How to Fish, has surpassed 10 million players less than two months after its release. The studio expressed gratitude to the community for the strong support following the game's launch on Steam on August 20, 2026.
The game blends first-person shooting with fishing mechanics, supporting up to eight players in online cooperative play. Players stranded on an island must fish, fight, or shoot their catch to earn money for equipment and weapons. The title also features boss challenges, island exploration, and gambling elements.
The project, created by Carl-Vilhelm and Melvin, gained popularity for its humorous character models and online interactions. It reached 1 million units sold within two days of release and hit a peak of 373,971 concurrent players on Steam on August 26. Developers noted they prioritized weapon feedback and physics to ensure satisfying gameplay.
Dazed Games confirmed that work is underway on major content updates, bug fixes, and console ports. While the team previously released the 1.1.0 Island Update in September, they have not yet disclosed specific console platforms or release schedules for the upcoming ports.
