Google Japan's Gboard team announced the "Gboard Rolling Version" keyboard on 10/1. Departing from traditional designs that require two hands, this novel device is built to enable users to type using only a single hand or even a single finger.

The keyboard features a conveyor belt mechanism that arranges 29 keys in a moving line. Keys continuously roll past the user like a stream, allowing players to press them at the right moment to input text. According to the team, this setup lets users type while drinking tea, operating a mouse, or potentially doubling productivity with two such keyboards.

While there are currently no plans to sell the keyboard, the creators intend to release the blueprints as open-source for individuals who want to purchase parts and DIY the device themselves. The team noted that they chose 10/1 to reveal the project because they noticed the popularity of the standard 101-key keyboard.
