Coin Crew Games has announced that Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 on November 5. This sequel transitions the series from a linear narrative structure to an expansive, open-world campus environment.
The game features a redesigned campus divided into distinct sections, including the Headmaster’s Tower and the Humanities Campus. Developers have moved away from the original 2D map layout, opting for an open-world design that incorporates interactable landmarks, side quests, and environmental puzzles that extend beyond individual rooms.
Visuals have been updated to provide a more fully-realized aesthetic, with the Headmaster’s Office serving as a primary design target. The Humanities Campus, rebuilt following events in the first title, utilizes classical architecture to create a distinct, cozy atmosphere that contrasts with the industrial Science Campus and the colorful Arts Campus.
Players can engage in the full experience through either couch or online co-op modes. While the Humanities Campus is not immediately accessible, the developers have integrated exploration mechanics, such as keyhole-shaped landmarks, to encourage players to uncover secrets and navigate the living, breathing environment.
