Konami has partnered with developer Evil Empire to release Castlevania: Belmont's Curse, the first mainline entry in the vampire series in over 10 years. The title is currently receiving positive critical reception, holding an average rating of 86 on Metacritic and 85 on OpenCritic.

The game introduces a new protagonist, Rose Belmont, and features a tarot card system for unlocking spells. Game Informer's Charles Harte praised the anime-inspired art style and the inclusion of voice actors from the Netflix series, while GameSpot's Steve Watts lauded the combat as among the best in any 2D action game.

Despite the praise, some critics expressed reservations. IGN's Scott White argued that the focus on responsive combat sacrifices classic series elements like the RPG system. Similarly, The Guardian's Harper Jay MacIntyre noted that the shift toward twitch-based platforming and uneven pacing might frustrate series purists.

Castlevania: Belmont's Curse is scheduled for release on Oct. 15 for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X.
