Capcom has addressed concerns regarding its future development plans following a recent recruitment conference held on October 2. During the event, programmer Satoshi Ishida introduced REX, an initiative designed to incrementally enhance the existing RE Engine rather than replacing it entirely.
The company aims to utilize AI to streamline development workflows, specifically targeting tasks like code testing and data analysis. Capcom noted that modern game production has become increasingly resource-intensive, necessitating more efficient internal tools to manage these growing demands.
Capcom explicitly stated it has no intention of using generative AI to create game assets or content. The firm clarified that its AI implementation is strictly limited to improving productivity and development processes, a stance consistent with comments made during a March shareholders' meeting.
By focusing on AI as a supporting technology for graphics, sound, and programming, the developer seeks to accelerate production cycles. This strategy will be applied to future titles, including Resident Evil Veronica and Mega Man: Dual Override.
