Capcom revealed a multi-phase undertaking to transform its proprietary RE Engine into an advanced system designed to streamline workflow and boost overall performance.

Programmer Satoshi Ishida detailed the REX initiative during a company tech conference presentation, outlining goals to accelerate production timelines and integrate new automated workflows.

The upcoming updates introduce standardized data processing, an accelerated development toolkit, ID-based logging, a visual scripting tool, and a refined runtime core alongside an updated execution framework.

Ishida explained that artificial intelligence will help generate code, automate playtesting for bug fixes, and optimize performance so creators can work alongside automated tools.

The company previously clarified that it avoids putting generative assets straight into titles, focusing instead on internal productivity boosts across graphics, sound, and programming departments.
