AMD has reportedly implemented a price increase for the GDDR6 memory utilized in its graphics cards. According to information originating from the Chinese forum Boardchannels, this adjustment for Add-in Board partners became effective on October 1.
The increased costs for components are expected to impact the retail market. As partners face higher expenses for AMD GPUs, these costs will likely be passed on to consumers, potentially leading to higher prices for Radeon hardware in the near future.
This development follows a similar trend observed with Nvidia, which reportedly adjusted pricing for its GDDR6 and GDDR7 cards back in July. Industry reports at that time suggested potential price hikes for Nvidia cards reaching as high as 30%.
Beyond memory costs, the broader graphics card market faces challenges including limited supply and rising prices for other components like PCBs, which are reportedly affected by the conflict in Iran. These factors contribute to a difficult environment for consumers seeking affordable hardware upgrades.
