At the OSAKA INDIE GAMES SUMMIT 2026 event held in Osaka Umeda, the Phoenixx booth showcased a playable demo of Nonlinear's 2D action adventure Near The Sun. The title is scheduled for release on PC via Steam.
The game centers on an air dash mechanic. Players ram into animatronic enemies to temporarily stun them, which instantly refreshes the dash count and allows for continuous movement as long as targets remain nearby.
Phoenixx publisher representative Yoko Kuriyama explained that the event build was specially tuned for action. Kuriyama noted that the brief hit-stop upon contact helps players plan their trajectory, while stealth sequences and narrative exploration await in the full game.
Kuriyama stated that the game is currently nearly finished, having moved past its originally planned spring 2026 release window. Meanwhile, a standard demo was published on Steam on September 30.
