Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled to launch on April 8, 2027, featuring a physical edition that director Naoki Hamaguchi actively advocated for. Speaking to Radio Times, Hamaguchi explained that he pushed Square Enix for a boxed release despite industry pressure toward digital editions, though he acknowledged that the final product lineup ultimately rests with the publishing team.
The physical release comes with specific platform implementations. On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, the disc functions as a key disc containing the opening while requiring the rest of the game to be downloaded. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch 2 version utilizes a game-key card.
Hamaguchi previously indicated that the title is expected to require approximately 200 GB of storage. He noted to IGN that replicating the two-disc setup used for Rebirth would have necessitated compromising on visual fidelity.
