SmileBoom released an update for the PC game creation tool RPG Developer Bakin on October 15. Version 2.7 introduces beta support for DirectX 12, which aims to improve game startup speeds through parallel shader compilation. Users can revert to the OpenGL version via settings if they encounter issues.
The update expands post-effect features, specifically regarding color grading in 3D spaces. Developers can now fine-tune tones and hues to better match their game's world, such as creating realistic or fantastical atmospheres by emphasizing specific colors.
Additional improvements include support for WebM videos with alpha channels, new panels for the layout tool, and compatibility for exported projects on Steam Deck.
To celebrate the tool's fourth anniversary since its early access launch, a showcase event is running on Steam until October 29. During this period, the software is available at a 30 percent discount from its standard price of 9200 yen.
