Coin Crew Games has announced that Escape Academy 2: Back 2 School will arrive on PlayStation 5 on November 5. This sequel expands upon the original title by transitioning from a linear narrative to an open-world campus environment. Players can engage in local or online cooperative play throughout the entire experience.
The game features a redesigned campus divided into distinct sections, including the Headmaster’s Tower and the Humanities Campus. The latter has been reconstructed following the library fire depicted in the first game. Developers have updated the visual style while ensuring the setting remains recognizable to returning players.
The developers shifted from 2D map layouts to a more open-world structure, incorporating side quests, points of interest, and hidden secrets. According to the art director, the campus itself functions as a puzzle, rewarding player curiosity. Certain areas, such as the Humanities Campus, are not immediately accessible, encouraging players to observe their surroundings to discover paths.
The title is designed to be accessible to both newcomers and veterans of the series. Beyond the main objectives, players are encouraged to explore the environment to find hidden lock decorations scattered throughout the academy grounds.
