The Thunderpick World Championship 2026 is currently underway in Malta, featuring eight professional Counter-Strike 2 organizations competing for a total prize pool of $1 million. The event, held at the BLAST Arena Studios, runs from October 14 through October 18.
The tournament structure utilizes double-elimination brackets during the group stage, where the top two teams from each group advance to the playoffs. Opening matches on October 14 saw victories for 9z, Team Falcons, Legacy, and FURIA, all securing 2-0 results against their respective opponents.
While the event attracts notable organizations like FURIA and Aurora Gaming, esports.gg reports that some top-tier teams opted out due to a crowded tournament calendar. Additionally, Virtus.pro was forced to withdraw due to visa complications, with Ninjas in Pyjamas serving as their replacement.
The group stage concludes on October 16, followed by the playoff bracket, which includes the semifinals, a third-place match, and the grand final on October 18. Fans can follow the competition via official broadcasts on YouTube and Twitch.
