The mental health charity Safe In Our World has officially introduced the Four Billion Players campaign. This initiative aims to increase awareness regarding mental health support for the global gaming community.
The campaign encourages industry stakeholders, including developers and publishers, to integrate accessible mental health resources directly into their products. Suggested methods include displaying splash screens at launch, incorporating links within game menus, or utilizing community spaces to signpost available help.
Charity director Sarah Sorrell noted that while games connect people, players can still experience isolation. Founder Leo Zullo emphasized that providing a clear path to assistance could be highly significant for individuals in need, marking a shift in focus toward the players themselves after seven years of operation.
Interested organizations can register for the campaign via the charity's website. Since its founding in 2019, Safe In Our World has raised over $450,000 for training and established a network spanning 15 countries.
