AMD has officially introduced the Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform, which is powered by the new Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 processor. This compact desktop system is designed to provide developers and creators with the necessary hardware to build, experiment, and execute complex AI workflows locally.

The platform features up to 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, 40 RDNA 3.5 GPU compute units, and an NPU capable of up to 55 TOPS. A key technical highlight is the inclusion of up to 192 GB of LPDDR5x unified memory, which allows the system to support language models with 300-billion parameters or more at 4-bit quantization.

AMD reports that the unified memory architecture enables up to 160 GB to be allocated as VRAM for the GPU. In internal testing, the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 demonstrated higher relative throughput across various generative AI workloads compared to the Intel Core Ultra X9 388H and the Apple M5 Pro, with the latter failing to run several of the tested applications.

To streamline development, the platform includes the AMD Ryzen AI Developer Center, which offers preloaded applications, models, and guided AI Playbooks. The system is currently available for order through Micro Center, with broader Windows-based platforms utilizing Windows Project Zenith expected to arrive in the near future.
