PlayStation has announced a new firmware update for the PS5 console, bringing the system software to version 26.06-14.10.00. According to the official PlayStation support website, the patch introduces improvements to system performance and stability, alongside system software security corrections.
While Sony routinely reviews the console to patch vulnerabilities, the security corrections are pointed out as a possible direct response to a recently discovered jailbreak affecting both the PS5 and PS5 Pro. Players noted that the update appears aimed at addressing this community-found security problem.
Independently of this firmware update, the PS5 recently made news with the unexpected implementation of Quick Spectral Super Resolution (QSSR). This AI-driven scaling technology is designed to improve image quality and stability for more detailed experiences, and is already available in Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yotei while also being shared with third-party developers.
