Recent leaks from social media user zed__wang claim that Nvidia is discontinuing the RTX 5090 flagship graphics card. The leaker alleges that future supplies of the GB202 GPU die, which powers the card, will be reserved exclusively for Nvidia RTX Pro products.
The GB202 die is utilized across nine different workstation and data center GPUs. Nvidia reportedly prioritizes these high-value segments, such as the RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell, which retails for approximately $18,000, over the consumer-focused RTX 5090.
These claims remain unconfirmed, as Nvidia has not issued an official statement. The author notes that similar rumors regarding the RTX 5070 Ti in February proved false, suggesting that current production issues may simply reflect supply constraints rather than a total product cancellation.
Since its January 2025 launch at $1,999, the RTX 5090's market price has surged toward $10,000 on platforms like Newegg. If production were to cease, the impact would primarily affect prebuilt gaming PCs, which currently offer more competitive pricing than individual GPU purchases.
