Atlus has officially released a free demo for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the fantasy RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio. Players can experience the opening portion of the game, and all progress made in this trial can be carried over to the full retail version upon its release.
The game follows a young traveler and his fairy companion, Gallica, as they navigate the United Kingdom of Euchronia. Following the assassination of the king, the protagonist becomes entangled in a sudden royal election while seeking to break a lethal curse placed upon his childhood friend, the prince.
Gameplay features include traveling via an armored vehicle, where time passes as players move between locations. During the day, users can resolve local issues, explore dungeons, or hunt bounties, while nights are reserved for bonding with allies or improving personal attributes. Combat utilizes a command-based system, allowing players to switch between over 40 archetypes to customize their fighting style.
The full version of Metaphor: ReFantazio is scheduled to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 12. The title is currently available for pre-order at a price of 3990 yen including tax.
