Honeyjar, a startup founded by industry veterans Michelle Masek and Nadia Jamshidi, is introducing an AI-powered platform designed to democratize high-level public relations expertise. The company, which is participating in the Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt, aims to assist founders and various professionals in managing strategic communications by scaling senior-level judgment through artificial intelligence.
The platform automates core PR tasks, including drafting announcements, identifying relevant journalists, and discovering speaking opportunities. Beyond simple automation, the founders intend to integrate the entire communications workflow, encompassing strategy, context, and timing. Through an initiative called the Comms Lab, the team is training the software on professional wisdom to help users determine not only how to act but also when to refrain from pitching.
Addressing concerns regarding the potential for increased automated spam, Masek emphasized that the tool requires human intervention before any content is sent or published. The founders maintain that the goal is to enhance the effectiveness of PR teams and individual practitioners rather than replacing them. They argue that the platform can improve the quality of pitches by ensuring they are credible and relevant to the recipient.
Honeyjar has already seen significant interest, recording 10,000 waitlist signups within its first 24 hours. Current beta testers include organizations such as Nextdoor, Bloomberg Beta, and agencies like Mission North and Full Picture.
