Halo Studios has stated that it is "determined" and has the absolute intent to release previously announced franchise books despite a massive behind-the-scenes shakeup. Xbox's sweeping restructure involved mass layoffs at the developer and placed the series under Activision's supervision, while Matt Booty noted that a small team will continue supporting the community and existing games.

Franchise writer Alex Wakeford addressed the status of upcoming stories in a Halo Waypoint blog post, confirming that Troy Denning's Halo: Fireteam Noble and Kenneth Peters' novella Halo: Burn the Road Home are intended to see completion. Fireteam Noble was previously scheduled to launch next year following the events of Halo 5, while Burn the Road Home was initially mentioned as releasing next year prior to the layoffs.

Uncertainty had surrounded several projects following the studio changes and rumors of an Activision lore reboot. Alongside the book updates, the studio confirmed that December's Halo Fest event remains on track, while the latest Canon Fodder post also shared never-before-seen Zeta Halo concept art and marked the conclusion of that specific feature series.
